Sorry about being M.I.A. lately, but I am back with more posts and I am hoping it will stay this way for a while. As you can see from my title, I will be talking about Eli Pope aka Papa Pope. He has become one of my favorite characters in a TV show, so I decided to write all about my appreciation for his character.
Let’s talk about Papa Pope! He is honestly my favorite character in this whole show. At first I hated him so much because he was the villain, but as I watched the show more I began to love his character and appreciate the mastermind behind his actions. Everyone loves a good villain. He has been the villain for most of the show and he does it so well. If a character can get you to hate them, I think they are doing a great job. I do think that in the end of this show we see a softer side of him, which makes him a more rounded character and I appreciate that.
The writing and casting for Papa Pope in Scandal was definitely on point. One of the reasons I love his character so much is because of the lines that he has. He always has the best monologue and delivers it perfectly. Every time he speaks, I am always thinking “Papa point ain’t playing.” You never want to look away when he is giving one of his famous speeches.I also think that Joe Morton was the perfect person for this part. He delivers every line remarkably. He has you loving him and hating him at the same time. I honestly can’t say enough about this character. In the end, he turns out to be the hero and saves the day. Joe Morton is a great actor and I can’t wait to see what he plays in next.
