I have seen this show all over social media after it came out, but It wasn’t until the 4th season and I decided that I would binge this show.
This show is about a group of people who decided to rob the mint of Spain. At first it may look like a regular robbery but it is anything but that. This group of people are smart and they have caught the police by surprise. Something else that makes this show interesting is that none of these people know each other too well. They do not know anything about each other’s past and they do not know each other’s real names. They call each other by names of cities. I don’t want to give too much away if you are interested in watching it.
Usually, you do not want to root for the “bad guys” but this show had me rooting for them and hoping they get away with it. To me, this show did a great job of making the robbers look more like heroes or even vigilantes. Yes I know it is wrong to rob a bank and take hostages, but I can’t help but hope they are victorious in the end. I think this show also did a great job with the depth of each character. Seeing them not as bad or good, but seeing all the layers of each character throughout the seasons. To me that is one reason this is not another regular bank robbery show.
When watching Money Heist, it did remind me of some scenes from other movies I’ve seen. At first, it reminded me of a bank robber movie called Inside Man with Denzel Washington. In this movie, they also dress the hostages like the robbers. Also, the 3rd and 4th season reminded me a little of the movie Italian Job with Mark Wahlberg. The only reason was because of the gold bars.
It has been a while since I have binged a show with more than one season. I forgot how much time it can take in your life. This has 4 seasons and of course it had to end on a cliffhanger. Fore me, I feel that when it was the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2 the pace of the show was really slow and it kind of dragged on. I definitely think season 3 & 4 had a better pace and kept things moving along. That was the only thing I think I didn’t like about it.
This show is currently on Netflix and it is perfect for your next binge. If you enjoyed Elite, you might like this show as well. A lot of that cast from that show is in this one as well. This show is originally in Spanish, so you can either do subtitles or have Money Heist dubbed in your language while watching. If you have seen the show what did you think?
