I finally started the show Kim’s Convenience.
After months and months of saying I was going to watch this show, I finally did it. In this show, we are introduced to the Kim family. They run a convenience store and most of the show happens there. Their daughter Janet works there as well. Their son Jung works at a car rental shop.
At the beginning of the show there is a strain between the father Mr. Kim and the son Jung. They no longer talk to each other. Something happened to put a strain on their relationship. The wife Mrs. Kim and the daughter Janet try to get them to talk it out, they are both very stubborn.
Basically this season we see them go through their life as a family and small business owners. We see what each person in the show is doing. We begin to get to know each person in the family and the show.
The first season was ok. There were definitely some funny parts but I haven’t really gotten into the show that much. The season finale thought. They did get my emotions. At the end of the season we see Jung, Janet, and Mrs. Kim singing in the church event together. Then Mr. Kim is hanging out in the background singing but he doesn’t want them to know he is there. They do anyway when they hear him sing his part.
While this scene was happening, it was emotional. This family did this song when they were younger and all together. Now that there is tension between some of them, it mean a lot more that Mr.Kim came and sang his part. They all got a bit teary eyed when they heard his low base notes in the background.
At the end of the season, Janet has decided to move out. Her parents aren’t ready for her to move out but they know this is something that she needs to do. She is taking the next step in her life and we will see how it changes things in season 2.
I think the first season was an ok start. I am currently indifferent to it. We will see what I think once I finish the rest of the seasons. Keep a lookout for what I think for the rest of the seasons of Kim’s Convenience.
