So I checked out the first episode of Gotham because it was getting some hype. So what I think about it is that is was not half bad. It was definitely intense and I like how it is all about the city of Gotham. In this episode you see Batman as a young child, at the moment he loses his parents. This show is not a happy one, it is dark and gruesome. It is about a corrupt police department and the true turmoil of Gotham. It is the darkness that gives it that edge. I think you should give it a try, it comes on Mondays on Fox.
I think this show has potential, but its a bit of an overload on Batman universe characters just for the sake of having them. Hopefully they tone that down in the future.
