I finally watched It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. Let me tell you that I loved it. I saw a lot of people on youtube talk about this show, and eventually I had to give it a watch.
Moon Gang-Tae who works at a psychiatric hospital. Ko Moon-young is a children’s author who is antisocial. Moon Gang-Tae has an older brother named Moon Sang-tae who is on the spectrum. Moon Sang-Tae’s favorite author happens to be Ko Moon-young. This is only the beginning of this story. This is a story about romance but is so much more than that. Moon Gang-tae and Ko Moon-young have had some terrible things happen in their past. This has caused each of them to carry these burdens and build up walls as well. The closer they get the more they are able to help each other through it. They are complete opposites, but this is what makes them work.
This show does get emotional. There are things in their past that are very hard to face. There is also some mystery in this show as well, about the death of Moon Gang-tae’s and Moon Sang-tae’s mother. This isn’t your typical romance and I think because it has all these layers dealing with mental health as well, this makes it an even better show. There are some really deep scenes in this show and I think the actors did great jobs on this.
I don’t think the trailer did it justice. The trailer didn’t make me want to see it. When I saw other people talking about how good it was, then I eventually decided to give it a try. This show is definitely on the more emotional side. I was in tears for the last few episodes. This show also reminded me a little of Crash Landing on You. This is definitely a little more dark than that, but I felt the pacing of this show and also how the love story progressed was similar to Crash Landing On you.
I highly recommend watching this. I would give it 5 out of 5. That is how good it was. This show is only 1 season and is on Netflix. I think this would be a good show to have a season 2. I would love to see what the future holds for these 3 characters.
