Self Made shows that with a dream and determination you can make anything happen.
In Self Made, Madam CJ Walker starts as a woman with no hope. She then gets a visit from a woman with miracle hair growth. After that, she had an all new sense of confidence. She was so happy that she wanted to make sure everyone knows about what this hair grower can do. Unfortunately, the woman who makes it does not want CJ walker to sell it. She doesn’t believe she is the right person for her brand. Madam CJ Walker didn’t take that lightly. She decided to start her own business where any woman can feel beautiful and run their own business.
Madam CJ walker did not have an easy road. She was a black woman with her own business on her way to becoming a billionaire. Many people were threatened by her and didn’t want her to succeed. Even with all the obstacles in her way, she found a way to succeed.
This was four episodes so it is a short watch. It is an inspiring show of how perseverance and a dream can get you far in life. Madam CJ Walker wasn’t perfect. Her ambition does cause other relationships in her life to weaken. She did what she did not just for her but for all black women. It is a truly inspiring story.
I liked the show and thought it had a great message to black women and their hair. I wish they had more of the girl at the end who took over the business. To me, her story was cut short. I would give this show 3 out of 5. It wasn’t the best show I have ever seen but I think it was a good watch. If you saw it, what did you think?
