Grey’s Anatomy is one of those shows that pull at the heart strings. It is known for getting you attached to characters and then losing them. This show has definitely been filled with tears. Here are 10 times that Grey’s Anatomy broke our hearts.
10. Mark Sloan – When the previous season ended, I thought everyone but Lexi had survived. But no, that had to start the season with his death and I wasn’t ready. We already lost Lexi and then we lost Mark too it was a double hit and left many of us crying with the start of the season.
9. Christina leaves the Hospital – Imaging Grey’s Anatomy without Christina was really hard to do. She has been there sine day one. I think one of the saddest but best parts of this particular episodes was when Christina and Meredith danced it out one last time. This was a character I was not ready to see go but we wish her well.
8. Derek Sheppard – I never thought that Derek Sheppard would die. I thought that he would be one of those character that would be on the show forever. I also think his death wasn’t good enough for his character. He deserved to be surrounded by his family in the hospital he worked at. It was sad when Meredith said her last goodbyes. We were all crying with her.
7. Christina Left at the Altar – I loved Christina and Burke when they were together. One of the saddest things was when Burke left Christina at the altar. Then later she has to have Meredith cut her out of the dress. It was an emotional scene.
6. Henry’s Death – He wasn’t on the show long but he left a hole in our hearts. It wasn’t that he was my favorite but when you realized he was gone you knew how it would affect Teddy. She did have feelings for him and he made her happy. This whole scene was so emotional.
5. Izzy Losing Denny – We grew to love Denny when we met him. Him and Izzy got really close and then we thought everything was fine and then it wasn’t. His death was one that affected the fans and especially Izzy. It was crushing and Alex had to pick up Izzy from Denny’s body. It was so emotional.
4. Plane Crash – This was one of the saddest episodes. Many of the doctors were on the plane and it crashed. This whole scene made me cry my eyes out. They were stranded, lost, and hurt. This episode was so sad because they were lost and they were losing each other.
3. Lexi Death – I didn’t realize how much I liked Lexi until she died. When Mark held her hand and they said how much they loved each other. It hit me hard. The waterworks came and they never stopped.
2. Hospital Shooting – This episode was definitely one of the saddest and one of the most emotional. A lot of people got hurt and many characters that you didn’t give a 2nd look at ended up leaving us and hit us harder in that episode then we thought it would. There was a lot of loss and a whole lot of tears.
1. George’s Death – To me this one of the worst deaths because it came very unexpected. He was leaving and he saved someone’s life and no one knew it was him until the end. I think the scene when the elevator doors open and you see George’s face is one of the saddest scenes of the show. I couldn’t handle it.
