Bridgerton: So Much Better Than I Imagined

If you didn’t know, Bridgerton is a new show from Shondaland that came to Netflix.

The story takes place in Regency London. This season follows Daphne Brigerton and Simon Basset. Daphne Bridgerton is the diamond this season. The queen said she was all that and a bag of chips. Daphne is expecting to have a lot of gentleman callers, an engagement, and eventually a husband. Unfortunately, her eldest brother gets in the way of her getting a good match. Because of her brother, she ends up losing her high status.

Simon Basset is a Duke and also an eligible bachelor. All the ladies are trying to get his attention and potentially be his wife. The Duke does not want to get married at all. He is trying his best to avoid any single ladies within his vicinity.

The Duke turns out to be friends with Daphne’s eldest brother. When Daphne & Simon meet, it is not love at first sight. Even though they don’t like each other, they come up with a plan to benefit each other. They decide to pretend to be together so that men will want to be with Daphne, and so women will leave Simon alone. This is a recipe for a very interesting story.

I absolutely loved watching this show and I have already seen it 2 times. I think I liked it so much because I wasn’t expecting to like it so much. The cast, the story, and we can’t forget about Lady Whistledown, made me love everything about this show. Lady Whistledown is the gossip paper of the town. She knows all the gossip about everyone. This gives the show a bit of a gossip girl feel.

Another thing I absolutely loved was the music. They used modern music, but is was played by orchestras. When I heard Thank You, Next being played. I knew this was they show for me. It made my love for the show go to the next level. I already started listen to Bridgerton playlist people made.

If you like period dramas, you will probably like this. I do want to let you know it is not Downton Abbey. There are some risque scenes in this show. This show is based on books and there are 8 books, so I am excited to see if there are 8 seasons. I hope this gets renewed for a season 2 because I need to know what happens. In the meantime, I will probably read all 8 books. Have you seen Bridgerton? If so, what did you think?
