In The Bear, Carmen tries taking a family shop to a high end restaurant
The Bear follows Carmen who takes over his brother’s restaurant. It is a small family shop. He is used to higher end restaurants and tries to implement what he learned there in this shop. This is not an easy task. He soon begins to realize how hard it is to run his brother’s shop.
Initially when I heard about The Bear, I thought it was a comedy. While there are some funny parts, It is more of a drama. I watched the first 2 seasons of the show that I saw everyone talking about.
Carmen’s brother recently passed and he wanted Carmen to take over his restaurant The Beef. It was a lot for him to deal with, his brother passing and then a restaurant that his brother didn’t want him to work in. He was also trying to change the way the restaurant ran. Many of the employees there were not happy about the new changes. He had good intentions of trying to make it run better, but was met with a lot of conflict.
Seeing Carmen deal with losing a sibling during all this was hard to watch at some times. We also get a look at his extended family in one episode and you see how people interact and the relationships between each other. It was not always the healthiest of relationships either.
There was definitely a lot going on in these 2 seasons. I personally liked season 2 better than the 1st. This show was an emotional one at times for me. I have to agree with what people were saying, this is a good show. I gained more interest after season 1 but I enjoyed watching it a lot for the last few episodes in season 2.
After watching it I would rate it 3.5 stars. It was a good watch. You can catch this show on FX or on Hulu. It will be getting a season 3 and I am wondering where that season will take us. If you have seen The Bear, what did you think?
