Vikings Season 4: Meeting The Sons of Ragnar Lothbrok

A lot happened and it is pathing the way in my opinion for the new Vikings.

In season 4 of Vikings, it was split into 2 parts but I decided to put them together for my thoughts on season 4. I will be talking about some things that stood out to me in this season.

*Spoilers Ahead*

So when I watched season 3 I thought Rollo would stay loyal to his brother but I was wrong. In season 4, Rollo marries the princess of France. He made a promise that he would defend France and go against his people and his brother. He actually goes through with it and fights his brother. That was something that shocked me because he had been loyal to his brother and he had plenty of times to betray him. I thought this time he would stick by him again but, he really fought his brother to the end. That could be because Rollo had more to lose in this situation than he had before. He had a family now and didn’t want to lose that. During battle, we see the vikings retreat in defeat and Rollo was victorious.

In the 2nd part of the season, Ragnar returns after being away for a while and all his sons are adults. This was one of the things I liked about this season was seeing all the sons grown up and what kind of people they are. It was strange to see Ragnar be kind of an outcast. He left his people and family and went off by himself for years. That does cause some tension between him and his sons now that they are older.

I always loved Lagertha character. In this 2nd part of the season, she takes over Kateegat and kills Ragnar’s wife. When his sons find out what she has done, they want to get revenge and kill her. Bjorn stops them since that is his mother. I am interested to see if the brothers will take revenge in future seasons.

After Ragnar dies, his sons want revenge so they decide to go to England. The go after both kings that took part in their father’s death. All of Ragnar sons come together to raid and fight England. At the end of the season Ivar kills one of his brothers. I knew he had anger issues but I didn’t think he would go through with it. You see the brothers get on each other nerves and insult each other but at the end of the day I thought they would stand by each other. I didn’t like Ivar at first but now I think he is a great villain and a lot smarter than people realize.

In season 5, i think tension will grow even more between the brothers. After the avenged their father they all seemed to want to go their separate ways. I think there will be more conflict between them in the future seasons. Season 4 was really good and one of my favorites to watch. I am excited to see what will happen in season 5.
