Tiny Pretty Things: Was It As Bad As People Said?

I saw the trailer for Tiny Pretty Things  and I was interested to see what it was. After the show came out, multiple people told me to watch it because of how bad it was.

Tiny Pretty Things  takes place at a ballet school. One of the students fell off the building but the police think that she was pushed. Now the police are trying to figure out who could have done it. The deeper they dig the more they realize everyone had a reason to want to push her off that roof. Neveah is the student who is accepted in the school to take her place. She soon realizes her dream ballet school has a lot of secrets within it.

The premise of the show seemed good and had so much potential. After seeing Tiny Pretty Things, it fell short in a lot of ways. There are some things I enjoyed in the show. I appreciated how they wanted actual dancers to be casted in the show. That was cool to do. I also liked the scenes where the students had each others back.

Things I didn’t like about the show

  1. Acting – I do think that when you want people with a certain skill like dance. Their dancing will probably be better than their acting. Some of the cast were good actors but a lot of them were not good and it was distracting. It took some time to get use to.
  2. Love Scenes – There were so many love scenes. I didn’t realize it would be as sexual as it was. I thought it would be more PG 13, like Pretty Little Liars, but that is my fault because I should have checked the rating. Also, I thought most of the scenes were unnecessary and added nothing to the show. I think they could have focused on more of the plot than the many love scenes they had and it probably would have made the show better.
  3. Plot Twists/ Reveals – The way the plots twist and certain reveals took place were very anticlimactic. A lot of times the show mentioned something once and skipped right over it like it never happened. A lot of the time, I was shocked because there were scenes where they could have done so much more with and they did NOTHING. One that came to mind was when we found out who June’s dad was. It was so anticlimactic that I had to double check if it actually happened. Why even add that in the show if you were going to do nothing with it?

Multiple people did ask me to watch this because of how bad it was. I think i had some kind of a bias before watching it. After watching it, I don’t think it was as bad as I thought it would be. The show did keep me interested by having me watch every episode. In that part of the show, they did well because it kept my attention.  I would give this show a 2 out of 5. It was ok but I wouldn’t suggest it. There may be some people that enjoyed watching this show, but it wasn’t for me. Tiny Pretty Things is on Netflix. I didn’t see that it was renewed for a 2nd season yet, so we will need to see what happens. If you saw the show what did you think?
